My Story

I successfully defended my dissertation and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2024 with my doctorate in Composition.  Prior to earning my doctorate, I received my MA from the University of Chicago’s Masters of Arts Program in the Humanities in 2016 and my BA in English from the University of Virginia in 2015. My work has been published in Feminist Spaces, African American Review, Barzakh Magazine, and Mizna: Prose, Poetry, and Art Exploring Arab America.

While earning my doctorate degree at the University of Pittsburgh, I taught a total of ten classes, including Seminar in Composition and Imagining Social Justice, a literature course. In Pittsburgh, I also worked as a writing tutor at the University of Pittsburgh’s Writing Lab for Student-Athletes. From 2022 to 2023, I was the Editorial Assistant for constellations: a cultural rhetorics publishing space. I worked as a contract employee at Autumn House Press from 2021 to 2023 shortly after completing an internship at the press in 2020. As a contracted copyeditor, I copyedited five full-length print titles and eighteen full-length audiobooks.

I embrace the opportunity to work with pieces that are experimental in their use of language or form. When copyediting, I always take into account an author’s own creative patterns, the artistic and historical traditions they might be drawing on, and their overall vision. I bring an awareness of the politics of language and ongoing conversations around language inclusion to my copyediting. I am always happy to assist you in navigating those conversations should you like to be made aware of them and,  I will honor your choices as a writer.
